Win a Mini-bus for your school

(featured in the Sheffield Star)

DON'T miss the bus. get on board and win one for YOUR school with The Star and Windowstyle UK! The sensational first prize in our token collect promotion launched today is a brand new 15-seat mini bus, worth more than 27,000. And we have thousands of pounds of prizes for runner-up schools - including a video camera and editing package, a digital camera and printer, TV and video recorders, DVD players, hi-fi systems and cash.

The Star has teamed up with windows and doors company Windowstyle UK for this, our biggest ever prizes for school promotion. Simply collect tokens we are printing in The Star over the next eight weeks and donate them to your local school. Look out for bonus tokens. There will also be a token every Saturday in The Green Un, our weekly sports paper. The final token is on Thursday, June 29 - with an entry deadline of Friday, July 7, 2006.

To give all schools an equal chance to win, no matter how many pupils they have, the total number of tokens collected by each school will be divided by its official registered number of pupils. The schools that end up with the biggest average number of tokens per pupil will be our winners. It's as straight forward as that.

The Star believes that life is local and charity begins at home. We also know how much help our schools need. That's why we have teamed up with Windowstyle UK to inject thousands of pounds of much needed equipment into schools. This is a chance for all head teachers, staff, pupils, families and friends to work together - to make dreams come true.

First prize is a 15-seater LDV mini bus, worth in excess of 27,000. Educational school day trips and out-of-school activities are seen as a vital part of growing up. But many school children miss out because they have transport problems. Now we're giving a helping hand with this fantastic vehicle.

We have FIFTY prizes in total to be won. Our second place school will get a state-of-the art video camera and editing software package - to help with animation and performing arts. Third prize is a digital camera kit and printer package. We then have 10 TV and video recorder combi systems, 10 DVD players, 10 hi-fi music systems, three lots of 100 and two £50 cash prizes.

So get collecting today and make a difference in your school! Jonathan Crossley-Holland, the executive director of Sheffield's Children's and Young People's Services said he welcomed The Star's promotion. "This is an excellent opportunity for communities to work together to support our children," he said. "The Star and Windowstyle UK have been extremely generous in making this opportunity available, and our schools are looking forward to benefiting from these exciting prizes!" he added.

WINDOWSTYLE UK, our promotion sponsor, is the manufacturing arm of The Style Group UK - the largest maker, supplier and retailer of uPVC windows and doors in the United Kingdom. With a state-of-the-art factory in Wombwell, near Barnsley, it is the community's largest employer and capable of producing over 10,000 frames per week.

Windowstyle UK has made our promotion possible and the company is delighted to be involved, says Nick Lilburn, Group Director of Style Group UK. "Although Windowstyle UK is now a well established national brand, we have never forgotten where it all began,'' he said. "We remain extremely proud of our success and most of our South Yorkshire heritage. We are delighted to give schools and youngsters in our area the chance to benefit from winning a minibus, which will hopefully in its own small way help to broaden their learning experiences."
