Windowstyle Kits Out Young Sports Stars

Two of South Yorkshire's leading junior sports clubs have benefited from the generosity of Windowstyle UK, the manufacturing arm of the Style Group UK - the UK's largest independent supplier of PVCu windows and doors.

Following an internal competition for employees at the factory, Hoyland Common Falcons and Darfield Junior Football Club have each been able to purchase new kits to the value of £500.

Windowstyle, the region's largest single employer and manufacturer of over 10,000 double glazing frames every week at its state-of-the-art factory at Wombwell, invited its employees to put forward local causes worthy of support. On this occasion they asked their staff - many with their own children associated with local sports clubs and tournaments - to nominate two local and worthy sports clubs to receive funding for new kit.

The two winners were Richard Briggs, who nominated Hoyland Common Falcons under 12 girls' football team and Mick Addy, who put forward the Under 8s section of Darfield Junior Football Club.

The Hoyland Common Falcons is the first girls' team at the club and the formation of a girls' section, playing in black and white kit, has helped the club to achieve FA Charter Standard as a community club. It was formed as a junior football club in 1979 and now has 11 teams consisting of 180 children. They play in the Sheffield and District Junior Sunday League - the largest junior league in Europe. The club's senior team plays in the highly competitive Doncaster League.

The Darfield Club, which plays out of the ex-mining village, has more than 200 youngsters in teams from Under 6 years of age to Under 16 in the Sheffield and District Junior League and, like Hoyland, has FA Standard Charter status. The Club prides itself on giving youngsters of all ages the opportunity to play and develop their skills.

Style Group Director, Nick Lilburn, commented: "As a major South Yorkshire employer we have always encouraged our staff to nominate worthy causes covering a variety of people and organisations in the community to receive our sponsorship. On this occasion we wanted to help young people in sport and many of our employees have that at heart.

"We hope our support will reflect our on-going community spirit."
